Houston's best-loved taco truck has been parked on West Alabama so long it feels like part of the street grid. The family working the window griddles corn tortillas until they blister, then loads them with fajita, pastor, barbacoa, lengua or chicharrón under a heap of cilantro and onion, with homemade green and red salsas on the side. The ritual is to order at the truck and carry your plate across to West Alabama Ice House, where a beer and a picnic table complete the meal. Mornings bring breakfast tacos with bacon, potato, ham or chorizo until 11am, and the line after 10pm on weekends is a Montrose social scene of its own. Tortas, gorditas and quesadillas fill out the board.
