The Heights Theater opened as a neighborhood cinema in 1929, survived a fire in 1969, and today is one of Houston's loveliest places to hear music. Run by Kessler Presents, it books singer-songwriters, Americana, indie and rock acts into a room where every seat feels close. The fall 2026 calendar includes Tripping Daisy (Oct 7), Cowboy Mouth (Oct 10), Joy Oladokun (Oct 16) and Deer Tick (Oct 17), with more shows already announced into 2027. Because it sits right on the 19th Street shopping strip, you can make a whole evening of it: dinner in the Heights, the show, then a nightcap at Johnny's Gold Brick a short drive away.
What to expect
- Seating varies by show: standing, first-come GA seats, or assigned tables and suites.
- Most shows are all ages; 17 and under need a parent or guardian.
- No food is served, and the bar is walk-up with no table servers.
- Bags should be under 14 by 14 inches, and any bag may be searched.
- Parking is free on 19th, Ashland and Rutland, plus the Aspire Dental lot after 6 pm.
