Arnaldo Richards opened Picos on Bellaire Boulevard in 1984 and spent four decades showing Houston that Mexican cooking runs far past the combination plate. The menu tours the country: seven regional moles, Yucatecan cochinita pibil, ceviche, pozole and enchiladas, with margaritas shaken by hand at the bar. After twelve years on Kirby Drive, Picos closed on August 30, 2026, and reopened on September 12 in the former Cyclone Anaya's space on Westheimer, more than 6,000 square feet with an indoor-outdoor bar, thanks to a last-minute partnership with Cyclone Anaya's owners, The Dhanani Group. Regulars will find the same menu in a bigger, brighter room. Breakfast starts at 8am, which puts the chilaquiles in play too.
